The 1936 Olympics in Berlin were historic for numerous reasons. And in the midst of Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany, Jesse Owens had set out to disprove Hitler's theory of aryan supremacy despite various obstacles that tried to prevent him from even participating in the games. Owens ultimately captured four gold medals that year. The 100 m 200 m long jump and the 100 m relay. This was such a big moment, not only due to the amazing athletic accomplishment, but as a resounding slap in the face to Hitler's ideology of the inferiority of minorities in the region.
